Jonathan Dean, Director for Rowney Sharman, said: “We are pleased to see the opening of the brand new Cineworld and restaurant extension at Whiteley Shopping Centre. This second phase recognises the importance of high quality leisure offerings in creating attractive shopping destinations and further adds to Whiteley’s popularity and success. We are particularly proud of the high quality, sustainable credentials of this scheme and the hard work of the professional team to ensure the quality of design has been carried over from Phase 1.”
Whiteley’s second phase has created around 180 jobs in addition to a number of temporary positions during the construction phase. The new additions complement the existing popular restaurant and leisure offerings, which include indoor rock climbing and soft play venue Rock Up, to further improve the shopper experience and establish the scheme as a night time destination. The cinema complex has achieved BREEAM (2011) Excellent, exceeding the BREEAM (2008) Excellent rating achieved on the Shopping Centre.
