Welcome to Rowney Sharman

Project: Erith

Client: Deutsche Property Asset Management
Project: Town Centre Redevelopment
Size: 166,000 retail + 44 residential units

Deutsche UK Property Ventures Fund instructed Rowney Sharman to act as Fund Monitors for this exciting redevelopment.

Works included the rejuvenation of what could be best described as a typical 1960's shopping complex complete with multidecked concrete car park and spiral ramp. The decks were removed and the building turned into much needed affordable housing on the upper floors.

Other parts of the complex were also opened up to form larger retail spaces and provide pedestrian areas, in keeping with a modern mall environment. During the difficult phased works, the original retail tenants on the complex were given the option to continue trading or were relocated nearby, ensuring that the town centre shopping area remained alive and vibrant. Continued public access to the area meant that Health & Safety was a primary concern and treated with paramount importance.

Adjacent land was allocated by Bexley Council for more retail units connected to the original block with an impressive feature façade, attracting household name stores to the area.

To complete the improvements, all of the existing dated concrete cladding was removed from all elevations and sympathetically replaced with a brick façade, which was more in keeping with nearby modern developments.
