Due to some unforeseen difficulties with the project, Rowney Sharman were approached and commissioned to undertake a strategic analysis of the existing project and provide a solution whereby the project could be revived to meet both cost and programme targets.
The large scale refurbishment of this Grade 2 listed building presented a multitude of challenges as it stood in a busy urban environment straddling both rail and road access to the Docks.
The extensive structural alterations necessitated an exhaustive consultation process with the listed building officer as this world renowned building is steeped in history. South Western House was originally the Cunard Hotel, which was the point of embarkation for the ill-fated maiden voyage of the Titanic.
The handover of completed units was phased resulting in much of the work being undertaken with residents in occupation.
