About This Project

The refurbishment and part redevelopment of Abbey Wood Shopping Park has been successfully completed, with Rowney Sharman acting as the Client’s Project Managers, Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveyors and providing Tenant liaison.

A substantial piece of public art has been commissioned in conjunction with the Planning Authority which has been positioned to provide a welcoming and attractive invitation into the centre.

Key Facts:

  • Located off the main Bristol, Filton Ring Road
  • Anchored by a new 45,000 sq ft Asda
  • Landscaping features to create a “sense of place” for local community
  • Local public art work
  • Additional leisure/public realm areas
  • A “facelift” to the Northern Terrace, featuring a new canopy
  • Upgraded car park

The shopping centre has been transformed with the construction of a new ASDA24 Store and additional 35,000 sq ft of retail space for a mixture of uses including restaurants and a management suite. The new public realm space provides excellent opportunity to embrace the outdoor seating areas provided by the park and tenants. A new link bridge to the southern boundary of the site affords easy pedestrian access from Filton Station and the adjacent MOD office. The new canopy to the existing northern terrace has ensured the whole park has been improved.

Rowney Sharman’s role has been central to the collective success of the team/project from inception, planning, design, procurement and construction phases. Direct liaison with all tenants and the construction/design teams ensured the collaborative team success.
